SINGLE MUMS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

Single mums just wanna have fun

but not ‘til that to-do list is done,

I am a lone lioness

but goodness, my house is a mess

washing dishes, changing nappies

who knew lonely freedom could make us this happy?

because we are our own backbone

when we are doing it all on our own

wondering how we survived

when we were so sleep deprived

bed time stories, nursery rhymes

play on repeat in our busy minds

and if I didn't say this, then I would be lying

but sometimes I am so tired of trying

wake up every day, same routine

life isn't always as easy as it seems

when you're trying to make ends meet,

but mothers aren't made for defeat

as long as there are clothes on their back

and the fridge has food to eat

some use meditation

some use medication

to make us feel okay

to get us through each day

whatever your method, make sure you don't judge

regarding their father, don't hold a grudge

because your energy is precious

and life’s too short

and you are stronger than they all thought

multi-tasking, refrain from asking

because this is what society taught

that honesty makes you weak

and motherhood comes with critique

and I know you have probably forgot this,
