The Best Thing That Happened

From Lily Gutierrez

As Mental Health Awareness month ends my heart is bursting with love for everyone that has submitted a story, read, and shared this space with us.

The topics we’ve covered this month are some of the most important ones I can think of. I’m grateful to everyone for coming together to speak honestly and tackle difficult subjects with kindness and love.

I feel so connected to you all and have felt genuine love for every person that submitted a story. Together we’ve created a community free from judgement and full of open hearts and thoughtful minds.

This month we did a deep dive to expand our knowledge of mental health and share our tricks and tips for healing and growing. The next topic will be all about us collectively coming up for air.

The topic of the next round of daily stories is: “the best thing that happened.” It’s about sharing the magic of our universe and celebrating joy.

Think outside the box! Fight the urge to write about your wedding day or the birth of your child, dig deep into your subconscious to find the story that speaks to you. It could be about a chance coincidence that changed the trajectory of your life, or a city you fell in love with or a time the stars aligned in your favor.

Stories should be around 800 words. I always say write from the heart and try to forget who might read it. Have fun with it. As you now know- no topic is off limits.

You don’t have to be a writer to submit! People have told me they feel intimidated because the stories are so well written. Don’t be scared, it’s all about collecting voices and every voice is valid.

Daily stories will resume again soon. If you missed some, this is a good time to go back and catch up. Each one is incredible.
In the meantime, I love you all.
